Message from Executive Director

MOSTAFA KAMAL JATRA
UTSA is a theatre based organization which connects theatre as a developmental approach from the year of 1997. The theme of this development approach called as `Unit Theatre Concept (UTC)’. Starting this organization to united theatre units as an umbrella platform, by organizing them under one umbrella as a units according to the alternative theatre focusing especially on Therapeutic Theatre such as Drama Therapy, Theatre for Therapy (TfT), Theatre in Education (TiE), Theatre for Development (TfD), Interactive Popular Theatre (IPT), Verbal Drama and Meeting Play etc. Now a days which called as Expressive Psychotherapy. Gradually UTSA was taking a new direction in developmental ideology to bring a holistic approach to challenge the issues faced by the most vulnerable populations, after a decade-long developmental experience of UTSA had developed REHECDU as the core development and humanitarian philosophy to work in rights-based approach by incorporating service-oriented development mode. In short, REHECDU believes in the thought of “of the people, for the people and by the people”. The REHEDCU approach is a people-led, people-organized and enriched with the indigenous knowledge of rights holders. In this way the most vulnerable people become capacitated, get the power to claim their rights and increase their interactions with government duty bearers as a ‘Unit’ of the Rights holders. Consequently the ‘Unit of the theatre activists’ become the ‘Unit of targeted rights holders’ whereas theater consider a tool for socio-cultural development of the communities. We are committed to complying with GoB’s SDG Action Plan and all components of the Vision 2041 by achieving UTSA’s SDG Action Plan.
