Today (10 September 2024), a therapeutic theatre session was held with the ninth-grade students of Firozshah City Corporation Girls High School, organized by UTSA in collaboration with Diakonia under the HEART project. During the session, the students actively participated and shared their experiences of facing various challenges in daily life and instances of bullying by peers.
Using key tools of therapeutic theatre such as Playback Theatre and Sociodrama, the session focused on building coping skills by addressing difficult situations. Additionally, the “empty chair” method was used, allowing students to express their pent-up anger, frustration, and resentment.
After the session, students expressed that the experience gave them the courage to voice their feelings, helped them learn to say no to negativity, and reinforced the value of staying aligned with positivity.
