Empowering Communities: HEART Project Inauguration Meeting in Subidpur, Faridganj

On May 14, 2024, a significant milestone was reached as the Inception Program of the UTSA Implemented HEART Project took place in Subidpur Union, Faridganj Upazila, Chandpur in assoceation with Diakonia. The day commenced with a meeting engaging parents from the Daspara area, aimed at forming a dedicated team comprising adolescents from the community. Fifteen guardians actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to the cause. Later, at 11 am, an project inception meeting convened with the Chairman and members of Subidpur Union Parishad, discussing the project's objectives and goals. Youth Group Launches Heatwave Awareness Campaign

Bangladesh has been experiencing an increase in the frequency and intensity of heat waves, posing significant health risks to the population. In response, the youth group members of the HEART project organized an awareness campaign in Wierless Moor, Chattogram, to raise awareness about heatwave safety. They distributed fresh lemon juice to pedestrians, working people, students, rickshaw drivers, and van drivers, providing them with a refreshing way to stay hydrated. The campaign also focused on educating the community about protective measures against heat waves, such as using umbrellas, drinking water, and taking regular breaks in shaded areas. With the collaboration of UTSA and Diakonias, this initiative aims to reduce the risks associated with extreme heat and promote a safer environment for everyone.

On November 12, 2023, a team of UTSA visited the BARCIK working area in Netrokona, Bangladesh. The UTSA team visited the seed house, seed preservation facility, and crop hospital, and exchanged experiences with farmers and cultivators on seed production, preservation, and crop management practices. The UTSA team also visited BARCIK's rice pollination system. BARCIK's rice pollination system is one of the most advanced in the world, and the UTSA team was impressed with the level of technology.

Today (04 November 2023) marked a remarkable day as 74 young boys and girls from various schools united for a powerful cause – protecting our environment! Under the HEART (Humanity and Equality to Accelerate Rights through Therapeutic Theatre) project, an inter-school art competition took center stage. The focus? Preventing pollution through the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. This event, organized by UTSA (Unite Theatre for Social Action) in association with Diakonia, encouraged our talented youth to express their thoughts about safeguarding our environment through their amazing artwork. The competition was fierce, and nine participants were recognized for their exceptional artistic talents, winning well-deserved prizes.
